Harm reduction

Responsible use

We do not promote consumption. This guidance is for adults who already consume cannabis and want to reduce their risk.

This information is educational and is not medical advice. If you are unwell, pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or experiencing distress, speak to a healthcare professional. In an emergency, call 112.

Start low, go slow

Potency varies. Begin with the smallest amount, wait for full effects before taking more, and remember edibles can take up to two hours to peak.

Never drive or operate machinery

Cannabis impairs reaction time, coordination and judgement. Driving under the influence is illegal and dangerous.

Avoid mixing

Combining cannabis with alcohol, prescription medication or other substances increases the risk of adverse reactions.

Mind your lungs

Avoid tobacco mixes and deep breath-holding. Consider vaporising instead of smoking to reduce combustion by-products.

Mental health matters

If you have a personal or family history of psychosis, anxiety disorders or bipolar disorder, cannabis can increase risk. Speak to a healthcare professional.

Know the warning signs

Daily use to cope, escalating tolerance, withdrawal irritability, or use interfering with work, study or relationships are signals to seek support.

Store safely

Keep everything sealed, labelled and completely out of reach of children, vulnerable adults and pets.

Never share or resell

Anything obtained through the association is for the registered member only. Sharing or reselling breaches membership terms and Maltese law.
